Africa - the big unknown. Many travelers don't visit sub-saharian Africa - and if you talk to them, they don't know why. It was the same for me for a long time. But after Kenya I think, that Africa is the last real destination for the Independent Traveler. Once you're away fromt he coast with it's resorts you get into parts which have not yet been corrupted by tourism. Don't think you'd be the first Westerner to be seen, that for certain is a myth that can not be found anywhere in the world really, but it's like nowhere I have been before on the world. The idea of one year travelling in Africa is stuck in my head ever since.
